Insulin: Contraindications

Insulin: Cautions

Insulin therapy can be considerably facilitated with injection aids (pens). However, animal insulins cannot be injected with pens as ampoules are not available.

A regular self-monitoring of the blood sugar is necessary during an intensified insulin therapy. Urgent hospital treament with i.v. injection is indicated when there is a ketoacidotic or hyperosmolar breakdown.
